Sony’s Popular Offers

Sony PRS-300BC Pocket Edition

For those looking for extremely compact ebook readers, the best series for them is the Sony Reader Pocket Edition, which includes the PRS-300 models. These are Sony’s most compact readers; they allow you to carry around up to 350 ebooks in your pocket.

The readers are equipped with 5-inch screens that use E-ink Vizplex paper-like screen that allows easy reading even in areas with direct sunlight. The models also come with page-turning buttons on both the right hand and left hand sides so whether you are right or left-handed, you won’t have problems using these pocket-sized Sony e book readers. Prices are around $200.

Sony PRS-600BC Touch Edition

The most popular Sony Reader series yet is the Reader Touch Edition. The Reader Touch is an ultra-slim ebook reader that’s ready to go with you wherever you want, offering you a great reading experience at all times.

The most unique feature of this series is its touch screen features, which means goodbye to the unnecessary control buttons on the unit. The 6-inch screen allows you to turn the pages with just one swipe of your finger, though the units also come with stylus for your highlighting and even annotations. Prices are around $300.

Sony PRS-900BC Reader Daily Edition

The newest series of Sony ebook reader is the Reader Daily Edition. This is Sony’s answer to Kindle’s wireless functionality. The longer 7-incher comes with free 3G wireless access so you can browse and purchase books from the reader itself.

The readers use 3G mobile broadband that can directly access the Sony Reader Store for ebooks and newspapers. The units can support industry standard formats as well as content downloaded from Google Books. The Daily Edition also adds 2-page landscape reading to better simulate real book reading. Sony has also upgraded the three-level zoom to six font sizes.

Sony’s Top Three

Sony PRS-700 with Touch Screen

The Sony Reader Digital Book PRS-700 is one of the newest and top-selling e-book readers from Sony. Its best feature is perhaps the 6-inch touch screen which allows quick page flips and easy navigation.

The Reader features the industry’s paper-like E-ink screen with a built-in light plus a virtual keyboard, which allows you to create annotations and search for text in your book.

You also get a special bookmark so you can easily resume your reading. The package also includes a stylus for highlighting. All these processes are smoothly offered by Sony Reader’s ultra-powerful processor.

The Sony PRS-700 can hook you up with Sony’s eBook Store and other participating ebook sources. You can easily load ebooks of various formats into your ebook reader using the eBook Library 2.0 software, which supports commonly used formats such as DOC, PDF, and BBeB. And if you hook up your earphones, you can enjoy MP3 and AAC audio files as well. With just one charge, you can use the Sony PRS-700 continuously for two weeks or up to 7,500 pages.

Sony PRS-505 Portable Digital

One of the most popular models offered by Sony ebook reader is the PRS-505. Although it is not yet Sony’s most advanced unit, it made waves when it was released and still continues to do so even now that the later models have been released.

The Sony PRS-505 allows you to read books on the go, and Sony offers the CONNECT online ebook store so you can download and read PDF, TXT, DOC, and RTF ebooks. Audiobooks are also supported in MP3 and AAC formats. All in all, you can collect hundreds, even thousands, of ebooks with the practically unlimited memory storage capacity.

Aside from its 192 MB internal memory, you can use an SD card and Memory Stick Duo card together with capacities of up to 2 GB and 8 GB respectively. Imagine all the books you can bring you with anytime, anywhere, with that much memory allowance. The PRS-505 also comes with an auto sync feature that allows you to create folders to organize your books and documents right in your Sony ebook reader.

Sony PRS300SC Pocket Edition Digital Reader - Silver

The Sony PRS-300SC is Sony’s most compact Pocket Edition model. Priced at just $199, it is Sony’s most portable offer, but capabilities are nowhere near compact. It packs all the high-quality ebook viewing capacity of the larger models into a smaller model with a 5-inch screen.

In memory capacity, you will be limited to just 350 ebooks at one time with its 512 MB onboard memory, and you can get these ebooks from several supported online bookstores. You can keep on reading for two weeks straight and the Sony ebook reader will still be at it, thanks to its long battery life.

The Sony PRS300SC comes with three font sizes and supports multiple file formats including PDF and ePUB. The high-contrast display can render excellent text regardless of the format you use. And with a resolution of 800 x 600 plus 8 grayscale levels, you can enjoy comfortable reading regardless of light supply.
